JoieFarm is owned and operated by Heidi
Noble & Michael Dinn and is located on a five acre
farm on the beautiful Naramata Bench in the Okanagan Valley
in the interior of British Columbia, Canada.
Joie
(zh-wah) – meaning, joy in french,
has been a constantly evolving concept that began as a guesthouse
and critically acclaimed cooking school, located outdoors,
formerly in our orchard. In 2007 the orchard was planted over
to Moscato Giallo and Gewürztraminer grape vines and
a new winery building was built on the property. Three growing
seasons later, we can now make wine from grapes right outside
our winery door. This has been an exciting process and to
mark our evolution, our new trademark, JoieFarm, embodies
what has always been our end goal; to grow our own grapes
and make our own wine. This name change will coincide with
the first crop that we will take from our own vineyard, adding
about 6 tons of estate grown fruit, alongside the 20 small
family farms who will continue to provide grapes for our wines.
JoieFarm
is interested exclusively in the grape varieties of Alsace,
Burgundy and Champagne which excel in the cool-climate, desert
landscape of the Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys. We are
particularly interested in making these wines because not
only are they wines that we love and enjoy drinking, but we
feel these varieties thrive and are relevant in our area.
As young winemakers at the forefront of a new wine region,
we are interested in exploring the potential and synergy between
these aromatic varietals and their role in distinguishing
the culinary West Coast of Canada as an emerging and unified
cuisine.
Despite the unusual focus on aromatic white and rosé
wines, JoieFarm has received tremendous critical and popular
acclaim within the Canadian wine industry in a very short
period of time. The limited production of 9500 cases sells
out quickly with the wines being sold exclusively to a private
mailing list, Vancouver & Victoria restaurants and a select
few private wine shops. JoieFarm wines are also available
on a limited basis in Alberta and Ontario. As a result, we
do not have a tasting room to visit. We invite
you to enjoy our wines in restaurants or at home in good health
with good food, family and friends.
